Feeling nostalgic for times before COVID-19?
Many people are feeling nostalgic about times before COVID-19, and expressing it in their art. Hosted and moderated by the Alternator, Alternator Chat: Time and Nostalgia is an opportunity to connect with other artists and creatives about nostalgia as it operates within their practice, and learn more about the significance of nostalgia within an art historical context. What is the relationship between art and nostalgia? How has nostalgia opened up new areas of interest in your practice? How have ideas of time and memory changed since COVID-19?
These informal sessions are ideal for those who are interested in engaging with each other and Alternator staff about projects that they are continuing, are researching or have started new and can be used as a sounding board for processing your new practices, methods and approaches to your practice, especially during this time of isolation.
Artists and creatives from all disciplines and stages of their careers are invited to participate in one of two ZOOM sessions on Thursday, May 7, 6-7 p.m. and Friday, May 8, 2-3 p.m.
Both sessions are free and open to the public. Participation in both sessions is limited to a maximum of eight (8) people. Register in advance to join the session of your choice on Eventbrite.
For many artists and creatives, livelihoods, processes for making work, and inspiration have all been upended by COVID-19. Alternator Chat was created in response to the closure of the Alternator's gallery and office as a way to connect with our members and the art community-at-large around different themes and relevant to artists today.
