Connect with other artists who've returned to the journals and notebooks as a primary mode for art-making and creative expression.
With less access to their regular studios and materials, artists of all disciplines are returning to writing, illustration, calligraphy, mark-making, and journaling as a mode of making art and expression.
Hosted and moderated by the Alternator, Alternator Chat: Pen on Paper is an opportunity to connect with other artists and creatives about returning to their journals and notebooks: How has using pen and paper ( or any other mark-making materials) opened up new areas of interest in your practice? How has recording and journaling become part of your regular routine?
These informal sessions are ideal for those who are interested in engaging with each other and Alternator staff about projects that they are continuing, are researching or have started new and can be used as a sounding board for processing your new practices, methods and approaches to your practice, especially during this time of isolation.
Artists and creatives from all disciplines and stages of their careers are invited to participate in one of two ZOOM sessions on Thursday, April 30, 6-7 p.m. and Friday, May 1, 2-3 p.m.
Both sessions are free and open to the public, however, registration is required on Eventbrite. Participation in both sessions is limited to a maximum of eight (8) people. Participants will be provided with a Zoom link to join their session.
For many artists and creatives, livelihoods, processes for making work, and inspiration have all been upended by COVID-19. Alternator Chat was created in response to the closure of the Alternator's gallery and office as a way to connect with our members and the art community-at-large around different themes and relevant to artists today.
