Miranda Koetsch // Mixed Feelings
The human experience is an always growing, always changing meld of environment and emotion. We are incredibly complex beings and possess rich inner worlds to entertain the infinite amount of interactions between thought and feeling over a lifetime. However, the relationship between emotion and time is not always distinct, and at any given moment our internal experience may be blending, shifting, or morphing into something entirely different. This work engages with the woven and intermingled tapestry that is human emotion. By utilizing self-portraiture, the images act as both a reflection of the self, as well as a window into the depth of the human essence.
Miranda is a photographer based in Kelowna, BC, and studied at the University of British Columbia. In her artistic practice, she uses digital and analog processes, with a specialization in image manipulation. Her projects often focus on portraiture and employ relational themes between nature, others or self. With an emerging artistic practice, Miranda primarily exhibits her work online, but has also been involved in smaller collaborative shows such as the “Sightlines” exhibition at the Fina Gallery (Kelowna BC, 2019).
