Heather Martin

Heather Martin is a visual artist, reiki praticioner, administrator and gardener. He professional arts practice includes drawing and journaling. She spent the better part of her teenage years focused on classical music training, however at the age of 18 she had a nervous breakdown and began to draw as a healing tool. She became entranced with the visual arts and went on to study fine arts at UBC Okangan. She uses drawing to express the intensity of her inner thoughts, dreams and emotions and create visual references to reality. In this way, her work follows in the tradition of artists such as Antoine Artaud, Freida Kahlo and Edvard Munch.

Heather has always been artistically inclined with a major focus on home crafts like sewing and cooking. She is co‐owner of a small clothing and jewelry design company called Chaos Works and does custom baking. She is a participant in the happenings at Spellcast Productions and the Alternator's Wearable Art Gala. Heather enjoys all types of creative expression, but drawing is most definitely her passion.

Heather Martin is currently the Interim Administrative and Artistic Director at the Alternator Centre for Contemporary Art.
