Call for Submissions: Studio 111 Artist Co-op program

The Alternator Centre for Contemporary Art is currently accepting applications for our Studio 111 Artist Co-op program.

Application deadline: October 5, 2020

Co-op Session dates: November 15, 2020 – February 15, 2021 (Rolling three-month sessions, with an option to extend through 2021)

If you require a studio space to work in and are interested in developing new ways to engage the community, we want to hear from you!

The Alternator Artist Co-op program is designed to allow access to a dedicated studio space for emerging artists, designers and makers interested in a concentrated period of community-focused arts practice. This may be through a community art project, online engagement, the inclusion of open studio days or online artists talks that contribute to Alternator programming.

Each Co-op partnership includes 3 months of project development in Studio 111. Successful applicants will share the expense of hosting the co-op and will be responsible for contributing $475/month towards the program costs.

Studio 111 Co-op activities:

  •  must adhere to Province of British Columbia health guidelines to prevent transmission of Covid-19

  •  are subject to access hours and Covid-19 safety requirements as determined by the Alternator Centre for Contemporary Art and the Rotary Centre for the Arts.

If you would like to discuss the specifics of your proposal and compliance with current Covid-19 restrictions, please contact the gallery.

To apply for the Alternator Artist Co-op, please submit the following:

  • A brief description (maximum 500 words) clearly outlining how use of the Alternator Artist Co-op studio space will impact your professional practice, and a summary of ways you will engage the public as part of the program.
